Vitamin C (ascorbic acid as ascorbate) is a powerful antioxidant that helps the body protect against free radical damage. Vitamin C assists in detoxification by protecting all parts of the body against toxin damage. Vitamin C also is essential for collagen repair and production. And vitamin C assists energy production and plays a role in immune function. Typical vitamin C tablets may be very harsh on the stomach, causing acid production and indigestion with reflux (also known as GERD). C Guard is an ascorbate powder which is buffered and which is highly absorbed in the gut. This specific form of vitamin C, the levo-rotational form, is less likely to cause gastrointestinal upset than the more common form of ascorbic acid, the dexo-rotational form.
